Are there new E series chassis in the works?Agree on cockpit. Lack of passenger leg and foot space you mentioned in post above is indeed a well known limitation. I have an E-350 with V10, and know E-Series with Godzilla 7.3L uses same engine doghouse, so really no better. Because Godzilla pushrod V8 is much narrower than older SOHC V10 like mine, the doghouse could possibly be made smaller much like the Chevy Express, but that would require significant redesign. Ford tried a partial fix by only replacing the plastic doghouse IIRC with one that had indentations that provided a tiny bit of extra room on both sides of engine, but I think they dropped it soon after a few Cutaways were built. Don't know why. I do recall seeing a few pictures.
To do it right I think they need to make the doghouse mounting flange smaller/narrower which is a bigger job. Hopefully they could still provided adequate engine cooling with smaller doghouse. Sadly I would not hold my breath for Ford to spend much updating E-Series.Tue, 19 Nov 2024 03:41:16 +0000
