Why Nobody Likes Sedans Anymore (It's not preference)MotorWeek's 2025 Driver's Choice Award voted Camry Best Family Car. It comes with standard hybrid power with up to 51 MPG combined (53 City / 50 Hwy). Even with AWD option it can get 50 MPG combined. That's a tremendous improvement towards reducing greenhouse gases compared to compact cars from decades ago.
It's interesting to note that EPA rates the Camry significantly more fuel efficient than the Toyota Corolla in Highway cycle, even though Corolla is smaller, lighter, and has smaller engine. The newer Camry is probably more aerodynamic but I'd want to see real-world constant 75 MPH fuel economy versus EPA test results. Just noting that making vehicles smaller should help, but efficiency is also important whether ICE, Hybrid, or BEV. Obviously we have to assume many buyers care about reducing GHGs for fuel economy to even matter, and I'm not sure enough buyers do any more, or ever did.Sun, 09 Feb 2025 13:50:21 +0000
