Tesla robotaxi and robovan

Tesla robotaxi and robovanWhile there is little official information on Cybercab vehicle itself, Tesla engineers at the reveal may have shared interesting information with some attendees. Or it could all be BS, who knows. One is that vehicle is expected to achieve 5.5 miles per kWh and will have a range of approximately 200 miles, likely making battery no larger than 40 kWh. That plus being 2-seater makes 5.5 miles per kWh believable since Lucid achieved 5.0 miles per kWh with much larger and heavier car with a battery twice as large in capacity.

Unsupervised wireless charging is also interesting in that cars at apartments could drive themselves in middle of night to a centralized station and return fully charged; avoiding problem for owners who don't have home garages. Perhaps limited self driving could be approved initially at slow speeds and at night for safety reasons. I'm referring to normal drivable BEVs, not fully autonomous vehicles.

One source also said the body may look similar to Cybertruck but is not stainless, thus avoiding high costs and manufacturing difficulties. Conventional materials probably make a more aerodynamic smooth design easier to pull off. While vehicle shape may be polarizing, I'd love to know the coefficient of drag just out of curiosity.Sun, 13 Oct 2024 14:05:29 +0000
