Edge replacementThe bottom line is, Ford mishandled the Edge, which led to its demise. Not because there aren't customers for it, but because they failed to create a cost effective replacement to give customers a reason to buy one, as well as their overzealous electrification plan, which has generally been rejected by the public at this time. Unfortunately, for Ford, and many of their customers, a complete misread of the market.
I don't think it's too late to find a solution based on existing vehicles in their global stable. The 2024 Chinese Ford Edge L is 196.9 inches long, 77.2 inches wide, and 69.8 inches tall. This makes it about 8 inches longer, 2 inches wider, and 1 inch taller than the U.S.-market Ford Edge, with a wheelbase that's 4 inches longer.
My understanding is the old Chinese Edge L was an extended version of the US Edge so what prevents them from shrinking the current C2 based Chinese Edge to the proper length for the US? There is something to work with here.Tue, 16 Jul 2024 04:58:09 +0000
