2024 Lincoln Aviator Refresh Spied Without Camo

2024 Lincoln Aviator Refresh Spied Without CamoIf anyone was dreaming it was Ford thinking buyers would pay a huge premium to get an Aviator that added 800 pounds, had an electric range of less than 20 real-world miles, and saved them very little on gas. And because the standard Aviator is so much lighter, it's essentially as fast, or at least plenty fast already, so who exactly would pay that much money for the PHEV option? I'm sure a few buyers would, but numbers probably were just not there.

Aviator PHEV being dropped confirms to me (and I could be wrong) that "most" HEV and PHEV buyers actually care about electric range, fuel economy, payback, etc. and expect value in return for their added investment. I stated "MOST" because I'm sure there are a few buyers with deep pockets that would buy the PHEV option and could not care less about economic value.

Again, Car and Driver tested both, and found added PHEV weight offset most added electric power so 0-60 time only improved by 0.4 seconds. Apparently not too many buyers could justify the added cost. By the way, they also found that driving in all-electric mode with only 100 HP in a vehicle weighing over 5,000 pounds was too slow.Mon, 05 Feb 2024 14:06:26 +0000
