2022 F350 Platinum DRW - GVWR Package optionHi All,
New to the forums and going to be new to ford and well a truck in general as we are going full-time since my S/O is a travel nurse.
We are in the process of building a 2022 Ford F350 Platinum DRW 6.7L CrewCab and wanted to ask about the optional GVWR package that drops us from 14k to 13k, this would allow USAA to cover us.
Are there any recommendations about this optional package people can shed light on? The 5th wheel that we plan on pulling is most likely going to be between 12k and 14k, we are concerned if an accident were to happen. I understand the payload capacity when you reduce the GVWR rating is now 3,967. If we take 20% of 14k, we get 2,800 for the trailer, which leaves us with 1,167 pounds available. I weigh 225, she weighs 150, 60lb dog, 25lbs of cats, which leaves us with 707lbs of available payload. We haven't calculated the 5th wheel hitch kit ford provides, nor gas, nor luggage. Are we cutting it too close by selecting this GVWR package from ford?
