Rivian-based Lincoln cancelledFrom Ford's perspective, the Rivian Lincoln was just an attractive opportunity to speed up electrification of Lincoln line up... getting more models out sooner. But given the sudden downturn, and possibility that this thing will take longer and cost more cash than previously realized (because Rivian is delaying production), that opportunity has vanished. It's now just another capital drain that will not see quick cash flow returns.
So really, back to basic for Lincoln. Organic growth in EV starting with MACH E platform midsize (which is still happening, no change in status as far as I know). They can always restart the Rivian fullsize Lincoln in a year or two when Rivian has sorted out its production issues.Tue, 28 Apr 2020 22:59:09 +0000
